Snoring is the vibration of respiratory structures and the resulting sound, due to obstructed air movement during breathing while sleeping. The sound may be soft or loud and unpleasant. Snoring is known to cause sleep deprivation to both the snorer and those who hear him/her, as well as knock-on effects: daytime drowsiness, irritability, lack of focus, decreased libido. It has also been suggested that it can cause significant psychological and social damage to sufferers.
Sleep apnoea is a condition that interrupts your breathing when you are asleep. This is usually caused by an obstruction blocking the back of the throat so that the air cannot reach your lungs. The cessation of breathing automatically forces you to wake up in order to start breathing again. This can happen many times during the night, making it hard for your body to get enough oxygen, and preventing you from obtaining enough good quality sleep.

Useful Tips To Stop Your Snoring Situation Today - Which Snoring Aids Actually Work?

Snoring can cause several problems to the sufferer due to the lack of much needed sleep. But, you can control snoring with the use of stop snoring aids.

Many people do not perceive what causes the snoring problem. Essentially when you go to sleep your jaw falls open. So what, you might say. The problem is that a collapsing jaw causes the narrowing of the throat. The narrowing of the throat can then lead to quick air flows and vibrations which leads to the snoring sound.

In view of this most snoring aids try to keep your nasal passages open. It is important to not that these objects do not cure the snoring condition, they just avoid it from happening whilst placed over the nose or mouth. Removing the object from the mouth or nose will again cause snoring.

An effective way of stopping snoring is by using a CPAP machine, am expensive device that is worn over your face. This is similar to a gas mask and it is designed to avoid your throat from collapsing by applying continuous air pressure. Some people find CPAP masks not too comfortable to wear, so it is always recommended to try one (if possible) before you buy one. Unfortunately it might be a bit difficult to borrow or lease one.

Probably the most well known stop snoring aid is the nose strip. The premise is to open up your nasal passage more than normally, allowing you to close your mouth and not be required to breathe through it while sleeping.

Another well know anti snoring devices is the mouth guard. The mouth guard helps to keep your jaw in a specific position as you sleep and helps to avoid the snoring problem. Some mouth guards are available in different sizes and it is up to the snorer to find the size which is best for him/her. Mouth guards that are fabricated according to the user's mouth are usually more expensive, but these type of guards are usually more comfortable and more effective in the long run.

Another popular snoring aid is the jaw supporter, also known as a snoring chin strap. The snoring chin strap inhibits the sufferer from opening his/her mouth while sleeping. The closed mouth keeps the throat from falling open and the snoring diminishes or even stops completely.

The snoring pillow is another snoring aid that is available in many stores. These pillows are designed to encourage proper alignment which keeps the airway open. Sleeping on your side can be an easy way to reduce, if not eliminate, your snoring. The pillow placement prevents you from rolling onto your back, which could lead to snoring.
