Causes of Insomnia - What's Keeping You Up at Night

What are the causes of insomnia? This common sleep disorder, characterized by the inability to fall asleep or stay may be trigged by many different factors. Some of the causes of insomnia are trigged by physical issues. There are hundreds of disorders and diseases can lead temporary or long-term insomnia. Other cases of insomnia are caused by emotional disturbances. These mood disorders can be located in many different ways and can be both the cause and the symptom of insomnia. Many people are struggling with sleep disorders due to temporary, environmental stressors. Often, insomnia is due to a combination of medical, emotional, or temporary causes.

There are literally hundreds of physical issues that can be causes of insomnia. These include Parkinson's disease, asthma, skin diseases, and heart disease, to name a few! Many women experience insomnia by hormonal issues such as the monthly menstruation, menopause, pregnancy, or premenstrual syndrome. Others might have difficulty sleeping disorders due to physical pain or discomfort, a broken leg, carpal tunnel syndrome, or headaches.

In today's uncertain times, there are also a number of emotional stressors, the causes of insomnia. Depression and anxiety are often emotional disturbances, which may cause their patients to feel fear, helplessness or insecurity. Stress can cause a person to feel out of control and unable to deal with everyday issues. Since unable to sleep can sometimes lead to a feeling of anxiety or stress, so that an ongoing issue.

Temporary stressors are all around us. Every day we are confronted with situations that our flexibility and our bodies disrupt the natural rhythms. A late night at work, a noisy neighbor, a long plane ride, or sleep in a hotel or friend at home are all examples of situations that may cause a temporary disruption in our sleep patterns. Under a new drug, overindulging in food or drink, drink or excessive caffeine can also cause the insomnia.
